Buffalo Traditional High School is a former magnet high school located in Buffalo, New York. The building, located at 450 Masten Avenue in Buffalo, currently serves home to the Buffalo Academy of Visual and Performing Arts.

History Edit

The building was constructed in 1964 on the site that formerly served as home to the Buffalo Bisons minor-league baseball team. It was known as Woodlawn Junior High School and became a symbol of the Civil Rights and integration battles of Buffalo, due to failed efforts by African-American residents to have the school integrated.

In 2005, the school was closed due to budgetary concerns. The remaining students were transferred to either Harvey Austin Middle School or East High School).
